HR Training

Training is necessary for HR professionals and for businesses dealing with employees. It is a vital way to keep up to date with the ever-changing landscape of employment law and prevent costly employment tribunal claims!

My aim, at Fish to Water is to provide bespoke training to meet the individual needs of each business. For me, a one size fits all approach to training is outdated and doesn’t work.

I take time with each business to identify their training needs, how this training will benefit the business, ensuring that the time the delegates take out of their busy schedules is a positive and rewarding experience for all.

Examples Of Training :

Equality and Diversity

Equality means ensuring everyone in your employment has equal opportunities regardless of their abilities, background or lifestyle. Diversity means appreciating the differences between people and treating people's values, beliefs, cultures and lifestyles with respect.

Training on equality and diversity should be interesting and exploratory. I use real life scenarios to train employees and HR professionals on how to get the best out of their diverse workforce while successfully navigating this tricky area of law.

Performance Management

Training on performance management? I can already see eyes glaze over! But this is not the case! This training covers ways in which to get the best out of your employees, how to set tangible and achievable goals to ensure success. It also covers areas in which an exit may be the only option and how this can be done successfully, with dignity and avoiding an employment tribunal!

Managing Redundancies

Managing redundancies can be tricky.

Is the selection pool correct? What should be included in the selection criteria? Is the criteria too subjective? Can I make someone who is pregnant redundant?

These are just some of the questions we would cover in this redundancy training session.

Managing disciplinary and grievance procedures

This training session is often the most popular! HR professionals are understandably keen to get these processes and procedures watertight to avoid future litigation. During this training we look at mistakes that can be avoided and share tips on how to deal with tricky grievances and disciplinary procedures.

Managing return to work after long term absence

I have worked closely with various charities, working with individuals returning to work after long term ill health. I genuinely believe I have a unique insight into the concerns faced by individuals returning to work. I have successfully trained businesses and managers on how to deal with such situations in a genuine, respectful way, while getting the appropriate solution for the individual and the business.

Transfer of Undertakings

TUPE is hard! This training breaks down TUPE to give a better understanding of this "mysterious" area of law!

How to be an effective Manager

This should be a given? Really? I have worked with so many businesses who promote people into positions and they are then left to sink or swim. This training is aimed at newly promoted employees, providing them with the information and the skills to help them be a good manager and successfully navigate this new career move.
